Since 1981, people all over the world have been celebrating International Day of Peace. On Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, New Age Spa Institute joined the world in the celebration.
This year the theme is “The Right to Peace-The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 70.” As a document that was drafted by representatives with diverse legal and cultural backgrounds from all over the world, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1948.
According to the standup4humanrights.org website, the campaign has three core objectives: to promote, engage and reflect. The goal is to engage a wide range of people from different parts of the world; to help clarify how the Universal Declaration empowers all people; and encourage further reflection on how we can stand up for rights, not just today, but every day.
We are all human and Peace Day reminds us to love one another and come together, no matter our differences. In recent times of uncertainty, we must remember the good that surrounds us and strives to be better and supportive of one another, no matter where we come from.
Being involved in activities during Peace Day can be private or shared with families, friends, and coworkers. Because we at NASI consider ourselves family, on Friday at noon, we commemorated the annual Peace Day with a minute of silence.
