What’s the difference between College and Trade School?
There are many questions for potential students when they are weighing their options about attending a trade or vocational school. For many people, going to a 4-year college to get a degree is an automatic decision because it promises a higher income than a high school diploma alone.
While college may seem like its a no-brainer, here are 10 reasons why trade school should not be ruled out.
- Trade school offers its students a quick program that is usually anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. As a result, you can enter the workforce 2 years EARLIER than you would if you were in college pursuing your Bachelors. At NASI the longest program is 10 months.
- Just because trade school can be completed sooner doesn’t mean that its less knowledge or easier. Actually, it means that students enrolled in a trade school start to focus on their prospective career from the first days of class instead of taking pre-requisite classes.
- According to CollegeDate.com the average cost for a Bachelors Degree is anywhere from $37,640 for public colleges to $129,620 for private colleges. At NASI the debt at the time of graduation is usually $0!
- Room and Board costs about $10,138 at a public school and can cost around $11,516 at private school.
- Books can cost on average $1,275 per year. Books are included in NASI’s tuition.
- 70% of students attending college usually have to take a loan out to pay for it which means that they are paying at least $30,000 more when interest is factored in. Most of our students pay as they go which means they pay NO INTEREST at all.
- 40% of students enrolled at a four year college DROP OUT before completing their degree. 99% of students enrolled at NASI graduate the program.
- 64% of students take MORE THAN four years to graduate. 99% of NASI’s students graduate on time with their class.
- Some colleges charge fees for using their resources! If a student needs extra time or help or has to retake a test while enrolled at NASI we DO NOT charge anything extra.
- The average class size in college can range from 25-30 students in community college to 150-300 in a large university with a lecture halls. Our largest class size is between 12-14 students so instructors can pay attention to their students and help them master their skills.
