Let’s start out with the most obvious question of all for those that are not familiar with sheet masks.
What are they?
Sheet masks are face-shaped sheet fabrics soaked in nutrition-packed serums. The sheet is made up of variety of materials including papers, fibers or gels. Sheet masks are different from traditional facial masks because you only need to apply, and then remove patting in extra the serum instead of washing your face after removing. Sheet masks are individually packaged because they are generally used only once. The ease of use and convenience adds to this mask’s popularity.
How do you use them?
Easy peasy! Apply it on a clean face, leave it on for 20-30 minutes, take it off and enjoy! You can apply it as often as you want throughout the day or week. When you are busy and barely have time to rest, sheet masks are great because you can use them even when you’re cleaning, cooking, reading or watching TV. You don’t even have to wash your face or apply any products after you are done!
What so great about them besides being convenient?
They produce fast results in regards to enhancing the skin. The serum is filled with various vitamins and minerals, and won’t dry out the skin. The sheet on your face helps the serum to soak into your skin a little longer. Some of the sheets also claim to brighten and firm the skin.
What is in the actual serum?
Depending on the skin care goal, the serum will contain various ingredients that are commonly used, such as aloe vera and vitamin c, to more unusual ones such as pearl, snail extract and seaweed. Always read the ingredients though because for prevention against bacteria, most sheet masks contain chemical preservatives such as parabens and recently phenoxyethanol, which are not good for the skin. Organic or natural versions of the product may be bought to avoid such ingredients but they will obviously be more expensive.
How much do sheet masks run?
Depending on the quality of the ingredients and the product overall, masks typically run between $2 and $100 and can be found anywhere from Walgreens to Macy’s. Check out Allure.com to learn about sheet masks for all budgets.
