Veganuary: Are you ready to take on the plant-based revolution?

A way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.”

– Vegan Society statement on “being vegan”

At NASI, we’re asking our readers: “Is it time to join the plant-based revolution?” It’s a good month to try out this lifestyle as it’s Veganuary 2023! January is a monthlong celebration for all things vegan. It’s an annual challenge run by a UK nonprofit organization that promotes and educates about veganism. Veganuary aims to reduce the suffering of animals and take climate action into our own hands. For the vast majority, being vegan is not a quest for personal purity, but a way of life that avoids unnecessary suffering and promotes compassion rather than cruelty.

The Veganuary campaign is supported by numerous charitable organizations: The Vegan Society, Vegetarian Society, People for Ethical Treatments of Animals (PETA), Food for Life Global, Vegan Awareness Foundation, and Vegan Outreach.

A simplified way of considering this lifestyle is that vegans simply do what cows, pigs, sheep, and chickens do. Vegans go straight to the source. Vegan protein sources include green vegetables (the superstars are kale, broccoli, seaweed, peas, and spinach), beans and pulses (lentils, lima, edamame, pinto, and black), grains (brown rice, whole wheat pasta, quinoa, and bulgur wheat), and nuts (brazils, peanuts, cashews, almonds, pistachios, and walnuts).

At New Age Spa Institute, partner of Art Institute of Makeup, we’re proud to use and carry INGLOT Cosmetics. This vegan friendly makeup brand carries a full line of not only makeup but skincare as well. Most of their products are vegan and V-label certified. Inglot also prides itself on its sustainability principles. Much of the product packaging is reusable; easily swapped out with a fresh cosmetic refill.

We must note that while Inglot is 100% cruelty-free, it is not 100% vegan because some of their products do contain animal-derived ingredients. Both the components and the final products have not been tested are not tested on animals. This is one of the core values of the Inglot brand, which is also listed on the PETA approved list.

What we love about Inglot is the company’s message of transparency and clean ethos. Explore the meaning behind “V-label certified” at: https://inglotcosmetics.com/v-label-certification
