INDUSTRY ALERT: Illinois Issues Temporary CEU Flexibility
BIG NEWS for licensed estheticians, cosmetologists, nail technicians, and hair braiders across Illinois:
The Illinois Department of Professional Regulation (IDFPR) has issued a temporary variance allowing professionals to complete 100% of their continuing education (CEU) hours through any format—in-person, online, video, audio, or even correspondence.

- Previously, only 50% could be done through self-study.
- This change is temporary—granted while the Department works to make this rule permanent.
- You still need to meet all renewal requirements, including the 1-hour Sexual Harassment Prevention course. **Available for purchase on our website for $19.99
