From Around the World to Right Here at NASI
“I grew up moving frequently, which gave me the opportunity to live in several states across the U.S. as well as in England during my childhood,” Sophie shares. Her global upbringing helped shape a strong appreciation for cultural diversity and adaptability. “Through these experiences, I’ve developed a strong sense of cultural awareness, broadened my perspective, and deepened my empathy for diverse cultures and backgrounds.”
Two Decades in Therapeutic & Medical Care
Before she ever stepped foot into a treatment room, Sophie spent over 20 years making a difference in therapeutic and medical settings. “I hold a Bachelor of Science degree and became a Certified Recreational Therapist,” she explains, having worked with everyone from children to wounded warriors. She also presented nationally on disability awareness, autism, sensory integration, and more.
Adding to her already robust background, Sophie became a licensed MRI Technologist, bringing technical precision to her deeply human-centered approach. As if this wasn’t impressive enough. She even founded her own therapy-based business for children with disabilities. “Building on this foundation, I later founded and operated a therapy-based business for children with disabilities, blending developmental play with therapeutic support. Expanding my medical expertise, I also became a licensed MRI Technologist, working in both hospital and outpatient settings.”
A New Path: From Medical Field to Medical Esthetics
“Although I’ve always loved working in healthcare and helping others, I felt called to esthetics, particularly medical skincare,” Sophie says. After years of research, she chose NASI for its hands-on curriculum, flexibility, and stellar industry reputation. “I can continue to serve people by treating skin conditions and supporting overall skin health.”
Family, School, and the Balancing Act
Now living in Chicago with her wife and daughter, Sophie balances full-time esthetics school with family life. “My days are dedicated to education, while my evenings are spent studying and supporting my daughter’s many activities.”
Whether it’s dance class, gymnastics, or exploring museums and play areas as a family, Sophie brings the same passion and curiosity to every corner of her life. “As a family, we love traveling, exploring different cultures, visiting museums, theaters and comedy shows, experiencing festivals and sporting events, exploring different playgrounds and indoor play areas with our daughter and spending time outdoors. We enjoy staying active and focusing on nurturing our daughter’s creativity and learning through a variety of educational and enriching experiences.”
Favorite Treatments: Where Science Meets Self-Care
“My favorite treatments to perform so far include microdermabrasion, HydraFacials, and chemical peels,” Sophie says. She’s captivated by how skin can be transformed with targeted treatments and thoughtful care. “I love seeing the impact these services have on the skin.” She’s also a fan of receiving facials herself—not just for glowing skin, but for the powerful sense of peace and self-care they offer.

Sophie’s vision for the future is clear and full of purpose. “After graduation, I plan to work in a medical spa or oncology setting, combining my therapeutic background with advanced esthetic techniques to help clients look and feel their best.”
