Meet Vera, a 33-year-old aesthetics student whose journey to NASI began across the ocean and is rooted in a powerful blend of art, science, and self-care.
From Italy to Illinois: A Journey of Reinvention
“I moved in [to the] United States more than 6 years ago,” Vera shares. Originally from Italy, she graduated high school in 2012 after completing a five-year program in social-psych pedagogy. “After high school, I wanted to continue my studies and I enrolled at the faculty of political science and international relations at the University of Bologna,” she says. However, life had other plans.
Vera made the bold decision to move to America in search of a new path—and that path eventually led her to aesthetics.
When Art and Science Collide: Discovering Aesthetics
“In Chicago, I attempted to complete some IT courses, but I understood that it is far from my interests and passion that I wanted to pursue. Growing up in a family with a medical background, I never wanted to follow that path,” she explains. “At high school, I discovered my passion for art history. In aesthetics, I found the point of intersection between them.”
For Vera, aesthetics isn’t just about beauty, it’s where healing, education, and creativity come together. “The field of aesthetics has always fascinated me because it combines beauty, science, and care in a meaningful way.”
Big City, Big Dreams: Building a Career in Chicago
Though Vera originally lived downtown, she commuted for over an hour to NASI before recently moving to the suburbs. “Despite all, nothing changed my mind about attending this school,” she says, proving her dedication.
Living in a multicultural city like Chicago has also shown her the value of inclusivity in skincare. “Being able to speak multiple languages is a powerful advantage,” Vera adds. “It allows me to connect with more clients, build trust, and offer better service to people who may not speak English fluently.”
A Future of Her Own: Skincare Meets Entrepreneurship
Vera’s dream is clear: “My intention in the future is to open a business in skincare,” she says. “It gives me the freedom to express my creativity, build a brand that reflects my values, and make a real impact in the beauty industry.”
